Letter to Chief Justice on police highhandedness

Former minister and Congress senior leader Shankar Rao penned down a letter to the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court. In his letter, Shankar Rao urged the Justice to take action against the police for having resorted to lathi charge during Telangana march on September 30. He alleged that police acted highhandedly and caned the peaceful protestors. Despite government giving a green signal to Telangana march, the police arrested protestors, he mentioned in the letter. Further, he alleged that it was DGP who ordered the police to open lathi charge when Telangana march was going on peacefully. Also, he said the police allegedly entered the Osmania University campus on the same day and acted highhandedly even on the university students. He urged that appropriate action be taken against the police for police highhandedness.
