Mumbai rains floods in state on the anvil!

Mumbai city is devastated with non stop rains since the last two days. Most roads are blocked and traffic is worst hit say sources. However what does Mumbai Rains mean to us! It is a simple signal that we have been closely watching since some time that heavy rains in Mumbai leads to floods in the Godavari basin.

Of course with just two days of rainfall nothing big could be forecast, but if its continues, then the people living in the low lying areas of the river need be alerted. Already the rivers of the state Tungabhadra, Krishna and Godavari are overflowing with water. And if rain persists in Mumbai, situation could worsen in the state too, say observers.

However the government is adequately equipped to face any natural calamity even at the eleventh hour. With such war footing strategies  up our sleeves there is nothing to be worried off, say sources from the department.

Similar situation was faced in 2008 when heavy rains lashed out in Mumbai and Pune. Even intercity services were disrupted. Heavy water-logging had been reported from Chiplun, Rajapur, Khed and Mahad in Maharashtra. Vehicular traffic on the Mumbai-Pune expressway was also affected due to heavy rainfall and was diverted. The situation in Andhra Pradesh was more deadly as 53 people reportedly died due to floods. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
