Noted journalist and former union minister Arun Shourie has said that prime minister should be elected directly by the public in order to achieve the unity of the nation. He has also said that several amendments should be made to ensure that all those candidates contesting elections should have specific qualification. Arun Shourie was in Hyderabad wherein he has started Good Morning India website. He has also said that all government bodies should function independently and interference of government shouldn't be there.

Speaking on terrorists, he took on the Centre for not punishing the captured terrorists even after decades. He has also said that the state nor central governments were sitting mum even though thousands of infiltrators were breaking the border in Assam. Further, he said prime minister was not efficient. He has also said that a few persons were leaving behind morals in the race to adorn political thrones.
