Gali in Sanduru court amidst tight security

The former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy was brought to the Sanduru court amidst tight security by the police. Gali who is on trail for changing mining lease boundary markings between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, has been lodged in the Bellary Central Prison. He is also accused for an alleged attack on Thapala Ganesh. To avoid any protests from Gali's supporters, the security forces had issued an 144 section en-route to the court from the prison, for the day. The court had postponed the hearing of the case to August 28, today. Gali will now stay in the Bangalore prison till the hearing.

Gali has been accused by both the CBI and ACB. While the CBI is investigating the OMC scam, ACB is investigating the cash-for-bail-scam. Yesterday all bank accounts of Gali and his kin, were individually searched by both the intelligence agencies. It may be noted Gali and his  his brother-in-law B V Srinivsas Reddy of Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) were arrested on September 05 last year from Bellary. Later they were brought to Hyderabad, however CBI persuaded and took back the former minister back to  Bangalore, in connection with another mining case. OMC was accused of indulging in illegal mining in the Bellary Reserve Forest areas, spread between Bellary district of Karnataka and Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
