Sand mafia raises its ugly hoods

Krishna District sand quarrying has again emerged under cover of the darkness in the Kanchencharla mandal. Illegal quarrying the Krishna river basin has been  very much predominant in the recent times. Politically it is the strong hold of a particular community. However getting back to the main issue the quarrying has gone to such an extent that the miscreants went on the rampage and tried to attack the inspecting officers of the revenue department.

Surprise checks of the officials from the revenue department irked the illegal miscreants who were making good with the sand obtained from the Krishna river. In the early hours of the day the revenue officials swooped on the village and took in to control two tractors with sand. The third one however escaped after trying to hit the officials vehicle. They had a miraculous escape say sources.

Officers shall register a complaint on the owner of the vehicle say sources. The High Court's order banning sand quarrying in the State from April 1 has hit these miscreants badly and they have now resorted to illegal ways, say sources. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
