Shravana masam begins: Temples filled with devotees

Today being Shravana masam (beginning of a holy season), the temples across Andhra Pradesh are filled with devotees. And at famous Sri Kanakadurga Temple in Indrakeeladri of Vijayawada, scores of people are thronging the temple for seeking blessings of Goddess Durga. Moreover, today is Friday (considered as the day of Goddess Lakshmi) and the first Friday of Shravana masam is something very pious.

Other famous temples across the state too are beautifully decorated in the wake of Shravana masam. Today, households will undergo fasting believing that such an act would be bringing them lots of fortune. While usually Shravana masam starts with other days, this year it's special as the season is starting with Friday.
