Prez election: Voting starts

The polling for presidential elections got underway at 10 am today. The legislators in Andhra Pradesh are exercising their right to presidential vote at the special counter in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. There at Delhi, the polling is going on at Room number 63 at Parliament Bhavan. While several MP s have already caste their vote in Delhi, the first legislator from AP who voted was speaker Nadendla Manohar. Later, Lok Satta party chief Jaya Prakahs Narayana has utilized the right given by the Constitution for the legislators.

Notably, three compartments were set up at the assembly committee hall where the polling is going on. Some MLAs are reportedly reaching the assembly for casting their votes. Meanwhile, tight security arrangements have been made in and around assembly premises in the wake of presidential elections. The fate of Pranab Mukherjee (backed by UPA) and PA Sangma (backed by BJP) would be sealed today. The people of India would get to know the next President of India on July 21.
