The Congress Core Committee meeting is scheduled to take place this evening to discuss the presidential and vice-presidential elections. The sources in Congress party have said that the vice-president candidate would be finalized in the meeting. Also, there are possibilities of discussing as to how to please UPA's ally Trinamool Congress. It may be noted that UPA is reportedly thinking of continuing Hamid Ansari as the vice-president while TMC is apparently proposing the name of Gopala Krishna Gandhi for the post.

On the otherhand, UPA is receiving pressure from left parties too, which have been demanding the UPA to finalize a non-Congress person for the candidature of vice-president. In the wake of all these demands and pressures, today's meeting has gained prominence. One has to wait and watch as to who willl be UPA's vice-presidential candidate.
