Jagan story: CBI custody concludes today

YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy’s five-day CBI custody will end on Thursday. Central Bureau of Investigation approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking Jaganmohan Reddy’s custody and the High Court, which has agreed to the arguments of CBI, nodded for CBI custody on Saturday. Jagan was taken into the custody on Sunday. The CBI has enquired Jaganmohan Reddy at different places including Officers’ Mess in Chanchalguda Jail and CBI office in Koti.

It may be recalled that CBI has been probing illegal assets case as per the directions of the court. In the probe, CBI found Jaganmohan Reddy as the prime accused. The CBI argued that Jagan allegedly used the influence of his father, late YS Rajashekara Reddy, the then chief minister of Andhra Pradesh for getting investments into his companies including Bharati Cement and Jagati Publications (which runs Sakshi newspaper).

He was called in for questioning a couple of days ago and was taken into the custody a day before the CBI Court in Nampally asked him to appear before it as accused appearance. The arrested Jagan was produced before the court and he was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days, which ends on June 11. Meanwhile, CBI wanted to take Jagan into the custody. With CBI Court turning down the plea of CBI, the bureau approached the High Court.            (Phani)
