EC not to intervene in Jagan's matter

The Election Commission has met today to discuss the letter written by the mother of Jaganmohan Reddy, YS Vijayamma. It is known that Vijayamma penned down a letter to the Election Commission stating that her son YS Jaganmohan Reddy was arrested undemocratically just 15 days before the by-polls to 18 assembly constituencies.

The three members from EC headed by Chief Election Commissioner  SY Quraishi met on Tuesday and reportedly came to a decision that they would not intervene in the matter since the legal process is underway. The sources have said that the Election Commission would tell Vijayamma that they were not in a position to intervene since the matter was prejudice.

Vijayayamma, in her letter has said that she was writing the letter with great hope that the Election Commission would intervene in Jagan’s matter. She asked them to release Jaganmohan Reddy so that he can go ahead and take part in election campaign for by-polls to 18 assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha constituency.

It may be recalled that Jagan was arrested by the CBI on Sunday night and produced before the CBI Court on Monday. The court remanded Jaganmohan Reddy to 14 days judicial custody. Jagan was shifted to Chanchalguda Jail.

Meanwhile, YSR Congress already came to a conclusion that Y S Vijayamma would lead the by-election campaign in the absence of Jaganmohan Reddy.
