80 Ameerpet property owners get a relief

The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) that has approached the High Court against the stay order given by a single bench judge on the ongoing project in Ameerpet and surrounding areas has said that it could save 80 properties in Ameerpet from being demolished near Greelands cross rods in Ameerpet area.

Earlier, a single bench headed by Justice L Narasimha Reddy stayed the ongoing works on March 26, 2012 acting on a petition filed by the Joint Action Committee of Greenlands, Ameerpet, Madhuranagar, Yusufguda and Srikrishna Nagar.

Meanwhile, the High Court has said to come to an amicable solution after discussing the problems with the public. The court, however, didn’t lift the stay that was given by a single bench judge earlier. After holding discussions with the GAMYS JAC, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited submitted an affidavit to the court stating that 80 properties can be saved from demolition.

The GAMYS JAC members have said that they were partially satisfied and said they were committed to imparting justice to the property owners in the area. Had the original layout was not altered, there wasn’t any need for HMRL for demolishing properties, they added. The JAC has also asked HMRL to have a public hearing on this issue. (Phani)
