Telugu Yuvatha leader found murdered

A leader of the Telugu Yuvatha, affiliated to the TDP, was reportedly found murdered in Hyderabad.

Mr Chandrasekhar Reddy of Serilingampalli went missing after he had dropped his daughter at her college on Sunday. His wife Sujatha told police he had called her to inform he was going to see his friend and would come home later. She lodged a complaint to the police Sunday night after he failed to come back to his apartment at Jayabharat Nagar in Nizampet.

His body was found in a gunny bag late last night and police have sent the body for postmortem. Old rivalries and land disputes are said to be the reason for the ghastly murder. “His body has been recognized by wife but his mother says the body was not that of her son,” police said, adding DNA tests may be conducted for deciding the issue.

A case was registered against him and his friend at SR Nagar police station Sunday night after they injured a watchman at a restaurant while reversing their car in the parking lot. As the police registered a case following the incident, Chandrasekhara Reddy and his friend had left the car there only. The car was recognized by his wife.

Police suspect Chandrasekhara Reddy must have been kidnapped during the same night by unidentified people. Investigation has been launched into the murder. (J)
