Class IV student beaten up for speaking in Telugu at AP school

On Thursday March 8 Vishakaptnam Police has arrested a public school principal for supposedly beating up a nine-year-old girl named as Pavani studying class IV for speaking in Telugu with one of her classmate.

As the girls parents lodged a complaint to the police on NSN English Medium Public School principal NSN Murthy, the prinicipal has been arrested under under section 324 of the Indian Penal Code.Murthy was taken into custody for questioning.

According to the complaint, the principal summoned Pavani to his chamber and beaten her up with a scroll after he found her talking in Telugu with fellow student in class room on March 6.

The child sustained injuries on her right hand and forearm and is sent to King George Hospital for treatment.

According to the sources in school, as per the institution standard speaking in English is a must.
