3 IAS officers named in Emaar charge sheet

Contrary to earlier reports that the CBI prepared a 130-page charge sheet in the APIIC-Emaar land case, the investigating agency today submitted a 1000-page charge sheet in the special CBI court at Nampally in Hyderabad.

The officials carried the charge sheet papers in six boxes and handed over them to the staff of special court presided over by Judge Nagamaruthi Sarma.

Three IAS officers- BP Acharya, LV Subramanyam and K. Visweswara Rao (KV Rao, retired) apart from Koneru Prasad, Koneru Madhu, Sravan Gupta, Srikanth, Emaar, Boulder Hills and MGF were mentioned as accused in the charge sheet filed in the Emaar-APIIC case, according to highly placed sources.

While Acharya, Principle Secretary in the Home department, was already arrested in the case, LV Subramanyam is serving as the Executive Officer of the TTD.  The CBI questioned him once in the process of investigation. KV Rao is a retired IAS officer. Earlier reports said the charge sheet doesn’t contain Acharya name.

Even as the mention of the names of the IAS officers has come as a surprise to many, it is not yet known whether the CBI has already obtained permission from the Centre to include their names in the charge sheet. (JUBS)
