CBI has prepared charge sheet in the APIIC-Emaar land scam and it contains the names of Koneru Prasad, Sunil Reddy, a close ally of the YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan reddy and Mr Vijayaraghavan, former CEO of the Emaar properties.

The three have been lodged in the Chanchalguda jail after their arrest in the scandal. The CBI had produced them before the special CBI court at Nampally in Hyderabad this morning as their judicial remand has ended today.

As the CBI officials have informed the court the charge sheet would be filed before 4 pm today, the court asked the CBI to keep the accused in the court premises till that time.

The charge sheet has no name of the arrested IAS officer BP Acharya, accused number 1 in the case. The CBI needs to take the permission from the Centre to include the name of IAS officers in the charge sheet.

The CBI will seek the approval of the Centre to include the name of Acharya and file a supplementary charge sheet at a later date.

The charge sheet, running into 130 pages, contains the names of more than 200 witnesses and charges Koneru Prasad, Sunil Reddy and Mr Vijayaraghavan with abusing their positions and misappropriation of funds. (JUBS)
