The CBI, investigating the APIIC-Emaar land scam, today arrested the former CEO of the Emaar Township Pvt. Ltd Mr Vijayaraghavan.

The CBI sleuths grilled him whole day at their make shift office at Dilkusha guest house in Hyderabad and told him in the evening he was under arrest. He was later produced before the special CBI court at Nampally which had remanded him to judicial custody till Jan 30.

This is the third arrest in the APIIC-Emaar land scam. The CBI earlier arrested Koneru Prasad and Mr Sunil reddy in the case.

The CBI will file a petition seeking the custody of Vijayaraghavan for 15 days for further interrogation as part of the probe into the land scam.

Meanwhile, the special CBI court will hear the bail petition of Vijayasai reddy on Jan 31 and the petition of Sunil Reddy seeking special status on Jan 30. While Vijayasai reddy was arrested in the illegal properties case involving the YSR Congress president Mr YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Mr Sunil Reddy was arrested in the Emaar Properties case.

The court will also hear on Jan 30 a petition filed by Emaar Director Mr T. Ranga Rao seeking anticipatory bail in the Emaar case. (JUBS)
