While one part of the mission for the Union Minister and in-charge of the congress affairs in AP Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad’s 2-day visit to Hyderabad was to participate in the state congress core committee meeting, the other was purely personal.

Azad, who landed in Hyderabad Friday evening along with his wife Shameem Dev Azad, a noted Kashmiri Singer, was looking for a son-in-law for his only daughter Sofia Azad.

It was leant that Azad preferred not to stay in the Government Guest House ‘Lake View’ this time as his mission was personal. Rather, he stayed with his wife in a five star hotel. Reports said even PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana and the chief minister Mr Kirankumar reddy were not in the know of things.

Sources said that Azad, accompanied by his wife and former minister Shabbir Ali, met the family members of the well known builder Zulfiqar, a resident of Road number 12, Banjara Hills late on Friday night.

The builder’s son is said to be a well educated person and Azad is reportedly interested in making him his son-in-law. In this connection, he met the builder’s family.

The senior congress leaders, who are angry with Azad for not giving appointments to them to discuss party affairs, are now feeling sorry for having unnecessarily misunderstood the Union Minister.

Most of the ministers and MLAs, who waited for Azad at the Lake View Guest House Sunday morning, had felt disappointed as he never turned up there, according to reports. Generally, Azad would stay at the Lake View Guest house but this time he avoided even a visit to it as his visit was personal purely. (JUBS)
