Gali cleaned out bank lockers in three days: CBI

More facts have emerged out of the charge sheet filed by the CBI in the trial court in the illegal mining case involving the former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan reddy and his brother in law Mr BV Srinivasa reddy.

The charge sheet says that Gali Brothers had cleaned out several of their bank lockers with in three days of the cases filed against them in 2010 on the orders of the then chief minister Mr K. Rosaiah.

The charge sheet says that Gali brothers took up mining in 40 areas illegally after getting mining leases in 6 places. “After laying a tar road in deep reserve forest illegally, they dug out iron ore,” CBI officials observed in the charge sheet.

The CBI revealed that Gali brothers exported iron ore dug out illegally for which they didn’t get any permissions or licenses. “The iron ore mined out for which permissions were given was not exported rather the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) owned by them exported iron ore mined out illegally in reserved forest,” said the charge sheet.

The CBI said officials cooperated with the OMC for illegal mining after accepting bribes from the Gali brothers.

“We have seized one Rolls Royce car, one helicopter, 53 kg of gold along with crores of rupees from the Gali brothers at the time of their arrest,” said the charge sheet, adding a list of 201 witnesses. (JUBS)
