YSR Cong demands fee reimbursement, Jagan heads the protest in Ongole

The YSR Congress Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy questioned the government why the `fee reimbursement scheme’ introduced by the late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was neglected. He further said the government has not disbursed the amounts for the scheme, even as the academics were to end in the next three months. He took on the ruling government while staging a protest at the Ongole Collectorate on Wednesday. He was joined by over 40,000 students, parents and party activists in the protest. He said many students in the state were unable to continue their studies as they were not getting fee reimbursement on time. The dharnas across the state should be an eye opener for the Government, he added.

YSR Congress activists took to the roads protesting against the failure in the disbursement across the state. The protests were quite peaceful barring some minor incidents in Hyderabad and Mahabubnagar districts.

The dharna at the Ranga Reddy Collectorate in Lakdikapul, Hyderabad went violent when the protesters led by youth wing president Putta Pratap Reddy tried to lay siege to the Collectorate. To disperse the crowd, the police resorted to lathi charge. Two women suffered injuries when they fell from a moving police van and were treated at the Osmania General Hospital.
