Speaker to serve notices on cong rebels on Monday

Speaker Nadendla Manohar, who returned to Hyderabad last night from Delhi where he interacted with top officials of Lok Sabha secretariat, is likely to serve notices of disqualification on the16 rebel congress MLAs on Monday.

After the congress leadership in the state lodged complaint to the Speaker seeking disqualification of the rebel MLAs who voted against the Government during the division on no-confidence motion, Manohar made a trip to Delhi and met the Lok Sabha officials to acquaint himself with the procedure followed by them in the disqualification of some MPs during the tenure of Somnath Chatterjee as Speaker.

Manohar also had meetings with Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Raja Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari apart from some constitutional experts in Delhi.

Sources said Manohar has reportedly decided to serve notices on the rebels on Monday and ask them to meet him individually on the very next day and provide explanation on defying the whip.

It is learnt Manohar will also seek explanation from PRP MLA Ms Sobha Nagi Reddy and take a decision on her membership. (JUBS)
