Accused in Emaar, mining scam get remand extended till Dec 29

The special CBI court of Nampally in Hyderabad today extended till Dec 29 the judicial custody of Koneru Prasad, the main accused in the APIIC-Emaar land scam. Mr Konenu Prasad has been presently lodged in the Chanchalguda jail.

Prasad requested the special judge Naga Maruthy Sarma through video conference to grant him bail as his entire family was depending on him. “I didn’t directly participate in the Emaar scam and no one has complained against me,” he told the judge, requesting for bail on sympathetic grounds.

On the other hand, the court has also extended till Dec 29 the judicial custody of the accused in the illegal mining case Mr Gali Janardhan reddy and his brother in law Mr Srinivasa reddy.

Judge Naga Maruthy Sarma also reserved his judgment for Dec 27 on the petition filed by a lawyer seeking investigation into the role of ministers and IAS officials in the case registered against YSR Congress president Mr YS Jaganmohan reddy for allegedly possessing illegal properties. (JUBS)
