HC adjourns hearing on Naidu petition

The AP High Court today completed hearing on the petition filed by the Eenadu group chairman Mr Ramoji Rao seeking to vacate its earlier orders directing the CBI, ED and the state police to conduct preliminary probe into the allegations made by Pulivendula MLA Vijayamma in her PIL against him, former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and others.

However, the court adjourned till tomorrow hearing on a similar petition filed by Chandrababu Naidu.

Both Ramoji and Naidu argued that the court acted against the natural principles of justice in ordering the preliminary probe without serving notices on them. “Our clients should have been heard before issuing the directions on the Vijayamma petition,” said counsel for Naidu and Ramoji Rao.

Vijayamma filed the petition with ulterior and political motives, argued the counsel.

To this, one of the judges asked, “What is wrong if preliminary probe is ordered against you when allegations are made? How can we reject or substantiate the allegations?”

Meanwhile, the counsel for Ramoji Rao disclosed that his client received the CBI notices asking him to meet its officials with balance sheets, annual reports and profits and loss accounts since 2007. (JUBS)
