Undavalli unleashes fresh campaign against Ramoji Rao

Congress MP Undavalli Aruna Kumar, who waged a war against the Eenadu group chairman Ramoji Rao during the regime of YSR, has unleashed a fresh campaign against him seeking his prosecution.

Arun Kumar filed a set of miscellaneous petitions in the High Court arguing that Ramoji Rao had filed false affidavits in some cases in the High Court and Supreme Court. He also sought directions to implicate Ramoji Rao as respondent in some of the cases.

Arun Kumar appealed to the High Court to dismiss one of the Ramoji Rao’s petitions in which he pleaded to declare the Andhra Pradesh Protection of Depositors and Financial Establishments Act, 1999 as unconstitutional.

Arun Kumar said the Supreme Court, while upholding a similar Act of Tamil Nadu Government, had observed such Acts were only to protect the public interest. He appealed to the HC not to entertain the plea of Ramoji Rao in this regard.

The Rajahmundry MP also pointed out in his petitions that while Ramoji Rao in one of his affidavits had declared he was carrying the chit fund business, his senior executive P. Balaji said Ramoji Rao was not carrying out the business. (JUBS)
