Gali would have left India with fake passport

The arrest of the former Karnataka Minister Mr Gali Janardhan reddy in the illegal mining case was affected by the CBI at the most appropriate time on Sept 5, according to a news story published by a Telugu daily.
The story says that Gali would have left the country with his fake passport obtained from Tamil Nadu if the arrest had not taken place on that specified date.

Gali obtained passport in 2003 from the Bangalore passport office but the CBI confiscated his passport later as part of the investigation into the illegal mining case. He however obtained another passport, a fake one, from Tiruchhi in Tamil Nadu with the help of a person called Mr Husain Pira.

CBI went to Chennai, investigated about the fake passport and arrested the person who helped Gali in obtaining the fake passport with a wrong name and address. Following this, CBI has registered another case against Gali, according to the report.

It is alleged that Gali purchased an island near Florida in the US. He also has excellent relations with a mining company based Sumathra Islands in Indonesia. And he finalized agreements to purchase a big shopping mall in Dubai owned by the Royal family for an amount of Rs.5000 Cr.

If the arrest was not affected by the CBI on Sep 5, he would have escaped to one of the places with his fake passport, said the story.
