CBI may question Chandrababu in Emaar land scam

CBI, which arrested Stylish Homes Managing Director Mr Koneru Prasad Thursday evening in the Emaar land scam, has reportedly decided to call former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu for questioning in the case in the next few days, according to reports.

A section of the print media said that Mr Koneru Prasad is a close confidant of Naidu and the initial Government agreements with the Emaar were first signed during the Naidu regime. However, there is no confirmation of the reports by the CBI officials as yet

CBI said that the government owned APIIC had suffered a loss of Rs 4,310 Cr in the sale of villas, villa plots and apartments in Emaar Township at Manikonda near Hyderabad. The project was executed by Stylish Homes on behalf of Emaar Properties.

Koneru Prasad has been facing the charges of money laundering, flight of capital, tax evasion and intentions to defraud the government.

Reports further said that the CBI is also probing whether black money was routed through Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy-owned companies. CBI has already found that several villas and plots in the Emaar Township are owned by benami names. The names of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s wife Y.S. Bharathi Reddy and Rajya Sabha Mr K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao’s relative K. Raghu have also cropped up in the process of investigation.
