RTC runs skeleton services with police escort

RtcStrikeDetermined to ensure that the strike by the Telangana RTC employees would end as a futile exercise, the state government ordered the RTC management to run the buses with police escort in Hyderabad city on the 8th day of the mass general strike today.

Thousands of RTC employees joined the on going mass general strike since Monday affecting adversely public transport system in Hyderabad and other Telangana districts.

The government took the step to see that the commuters are not adversely affected by the RTC strike. As a result, the management began running skeleton services since this morning in some key routes in Hyderabad city.

Bus services are being operated on Secunderabad-Mehidipatnam and also on Secunderabad– Afdalgunj routes. Several buses have been pressed into services on different routes to bring the employees to the secretariat.

Meanwhile, RTC failed to ply its services in Telangana districts on the second day of the RTC strike today as the employees continued to boycott their duties.

Buses were kept off the roads in all Telangana districts as employees locked their depots and resorted to dharnas and demonstrations demanding separate Telangana state.

Harish Rao’s assurance to contract workers

TRS leader Harish rao asked the contract workers not to attend the duties under threat from the government. “Kindly don’t worry about your jobs. We will take steps to see that you will not lose your jobs. Please continue to boycott your duties,” he told the contract staff working in the RTC.
