ED to register cases against Gali brothers

EnforcementThe Enforcement Directorate (ED) of the Union Finance Ministry has decided to register cases against mining mafia don Mr Gali Janardhan reddy and his brothers under various sections of Money Laundering Act.

Gali Janardhan reddy and his brother-in-law Mr Srinivasa reddy are now in CBI custody. They were arrested by the CBI on September 5 and then sent to the Chanchalguda jail on court orders. For the last four days, CBI has been interrogating them in the presence of their lawyers to elicit information on illegal mining and illegal iron ore exports to China and some other countries.

Reports said that the ED is gearing up its paraphernalia and arming itself with documentary evidence with the cooperation of the CBI for registering cases against the Gali brothers under various sections of Money Laundering Act.

Once the ED registers cases under ML Act, it will acquire powers to seize their properties and jail them for seven years for violating sections of the Act.
