CBI Joint Director VV Lakshminarayana said today they have arrested the former Karnataka minister and mining baron Mr Gali Janardhan Reddy and his company director Mr Srinivasa Reddy on sufficient evidence in the illegal mining case.

Soon after bringing Janardhan Reddy and his cousin Mr Srinivasa reddy to the CBI office at Kendriya Sadan in Hyderabad, Lakshminarayana said they had arrested the two persons under sections connected with law of illegal mining and illegal exploitation of forest wealth.

Earlier, when the convoy of vehicles arrived at CBI office at Koti carrying Janardhan Reddy and Srinivasa Reddy, media persons swooped on the vehicles in a bid to talk to Lakshminarayana. At one point of time, the CBI officials found it difficult to get down from their vehicles but police personnel intervened immediately enabling the team step into the CBI offices.
