Vijayawada Congress public meet flops

YSRStatueThe Congress represents Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency and three Assembly segments of the city. Inspite of these advantage leaders were present in abundance but less that 500 supporters were only present at the inauguration of an 18-foot bronze statue of Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy marking the second death anniversary, near the City police control room on Friday.

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Botsa Satyanarayana, ministers K. Partha-saradhi, Galla Aru-na, Kanna Lakshmi-narayana, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad, Vatti Vasantha Ku-mar, the MP, Laga-dapati Rajagopal, the MLAs Malladi Vish-nu, Velampalli Sri-nivas, Jogi Ramesh, the former minister, Devineni Rajasekhar, Mandali Buddha Prasad, former mayors M.V. Ratna Bindu, Mallika Begum, the district Congress in-charge president, N. Narasimha Rao, city Congress president Pyla Sominaidu and other leaders attended the meeting.

Botsa unveiled the statue of Dr Reddy in presence of other ministers, MLAs and leaders. The failure of drawing crowds was attributed for lack of unity between the congress committee. Some unruly scenes prevailed by the YSR congress members earlier.
