Asia’s biggest bus terminal to come up in Hyderabad

terminalThe Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) will construct a mega inter-city bus terminal at Miyapur in Hyderabad in an area of 55 acres.

The terminal, which will be ready in 2 years, will have 225 platforms to station RTC and also private buses for ferrying passengers to various destinations in the state. Once completed, the bus terminal will be the Asia’s biggest bus terminal having a parking place for 1000 buses, 200 dormitories for passengers and 750 dormitories for drivers and housing budget hotels, ATM centers, two petrol bunks and five service stations for buses.

The HMDA, which has decided to construct this bus terminal to avoid traffic problems in the metro city, has called for bids for the project. KRR Infra, which quoted a price of Rs.64.22 Cr. was said to have bagged the contract. The bus terminal will be constructed, operated and maintained by the KRR Infra which will hand over the project to the HMDA after 33 years.

The bus terminal will come up in an area of 1 lakh square ft while the commercial building will have an operational area of 25,000 square ft. By paying the parking fee, any bus can have its parking in the terminal. Out of the 225 terminals, 25 terminals will be for city buses.
