2-day Rail Roko in Telangana from Friday

telangana1After paralyzing normal public life across Telangana by organizing a 2-day bandh, the Telangana political JAC has now geared up to block rail traffic for two days from tomorrow as part of its agitation seeking Telangana state.

The two-day rail blockade will sever rail connection between the South and North of India and bring the movement of trains across the Telangana districts to a halt.

Apart from the movement of the MMTS trains that run locally in the twin cities, more than 200 passenger and express trains that crisscross the T region over 1,000 km railway line are likely to be affected. JAC leaders had hinted that half a million people will participate in the rail roko agitation.
The railway authorities are likely to cancel some of the trains and divert some others because of the agitation.

Chief Secretary S.V. Prasad, Director General of Police Dinesh Reddy and railway officials discussed on steps to be taken to protect the property of the railways and to ensure that railway passengers are not put to difficulties on the two days.

The Railway Protection Force has been asked to conduct surveillance of the railway lines while the APSRTC will hold additional services.
