Telangana discussed, but no decision as yet

CongressHighCommandNational news agencies reported that the congress party’s core committee discussed at length the Telangana issue today but has not taken any decision on the nagging problem.

Reports said that the core committee meeting, which was presided over by party president Sonia Gandhi, lasted for more than two hours and most of the discussions centered on the issue of Telangana, according to sources.

The meeting took place in the wake of threats by the congress MPs, MLAs and MLCs of the Telangana region to quit their legislative posts on July 1 and go on an indefinite fast from July 5 if no positive decision is announced by the party and the Centre on their demand for the formation of Telangana state.

The core committee meeting that discussed the Telangana issue was attended by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Ahmad Patel, political secretary of Sonia Gandhi.
