Naidu subjects Jagan to litmus test

Naidu subjects Jagan to litmus testTDP chief and former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has taken a step forward his counter attack on YSR congress chief YS Jaganmohan reddy by announcing that TDP would introduce a no confidence motion against the Kirankumar reddy government in the coming session of the assembly. Naidu has really pushed Jagan to the wall with his statement.

Naidu made this announcement in the ‘Big Debate’ programme conducted by the ABN Andhra Jyothy channel last night stunning the YSR congress party.

Mr. Naidu, vexed with the misinformation campaign of Jagan that TDP has conspired with the congress party, had challenged Jagan from his Mahanadu platform first by asking him to introduce a no confidence motion.

Jagan had in the past several times said that the government has been surviving thanks to his mercy only and the Kirankumar reddy government would be toppled once he decides it should go. At times, he said that he would bring back the ‘golden era’ of the late YSR soon but Chandrababu Naidu is the main impediment. “Chandrababu is the only obstruction because he is in conspiracy with the congress government,” said Jagan on occasions blaming Naidu.

Fed up with this misinformation campaign against him and to save his image, Naidu challenged Jagan to introduce a no confidence motion promising his support. “If you have the strength, go meet the governor and topple the government,” he asked him. “I will support the motion,” he said.

Taken off guard, Jagan could not find an answer to counter this attack and agreed that he had not sufficient strength to bring down the government on his own.

In fact, Kirankumar government is on the safe side now with the PRP merger and the support of the MIM. Now, with Naidu making an open announcement that he would introduce no-confidence motion in the ensuing assembly session, it is turning out to be a litmus test for Jagan.

Congress MLAs supporting him can’t vote against the government for the fear of being disqualified from the assembly. The actual strength of Jagan too would be known to all in such case. In case, Naidu succeeds in toppling the government through his no confidence motion, he would only hog the limelight and not Jagan at all. And Jagan camp itself can’t introduce such a no confidence motion at it doesn’t have any direct strength in the assembly.
