Naidu demands Bharat Ratna for NTR

Naidu demands Bharat Ratna for NTRTDP chief Chandrababu Naidu today demanded the Central Government to honour the legendary actor and TDP founder the late NT Rama Rao posthumously with Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.

Addressing the delegates on the second day of TDP Mahanadu at Gandipet near Hyderabad, Naidu said that NTR was the first in the country to bring reservations to women. “NTR was the first chief minister in the country who introduced reservations to women,” he said.

Naidu said that NTR had also worked for the welfare of the farmers in the state, besides introducing several welfare measures for the SCs and STs during his tenure as chief minister.
“He deserves the title Bharat Ratna and I demand the central government to honour him with the title,” he said.

The former chief minister disclosed they had requested the then government to name the Samshabad International airport after the late NTR but it was not conceded. “We will try to ensure the installation of NTR statue in the Parliament campus,” said Chandrababu Naidu.
