Tollywood veteran Mohan Babu’s daughter and actress Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna, who has acquired a celebrity status with her talk shows on the idiot box, will soon make her entry into the political arena.
Mohan Babu, who was once elected to the Rajya Sabha from the TDP, has reportedly decided to ensure his daughter’s entry into politics through the TDP only and the party supremo Chandrababu Naidu too has enthusiastically agreed to the proposal, according to sources.
Lakshmi Prasanna, who has been attracting the eyeballs of people through her talk shows on TV channels, is surely now a lady politician in the making. And her target is Tirupati assembly seat for the 2014 elections or even earlier in case of a mid term poll in the state.
Mohan Babu’s political fortunes plummeted to the lowest ebb after Chandrababu Naidu denied him a second term for the Rajya Sabha leading to the parting of ways between the two in the late 1990s. Years after being expelled from the TDP, Mohan Babu mended his ways with Chandra Babu and they are very good friends now.

The bitterness between Mohan Babu and Chandrababu was at its zenith in 2005 that the former announced towards the fag end of the year that he would launch a political party. He had of course later dropped the idea as he mended ways with Naidu.
It can however be said that the real second bonhomie of the two Babus for all practical purposes started with the intervention of media baron Ramoji Rao whose channel ETV launched the second version of Lakshmi Prasanna’s talk show ‘Prematho Mee Lakshmi’ on February 10, 2011. Not surprisingly, the curtain raiser of the talk show featured both the Babus. It is said that Ramoji Rao played a key role in strengthening their friendship.
The second bonhomie would serve the purposes of both of them. While Chandrababu wants a strong candidate to ensure the defeat of Chiranjeevi in Tirupati in the next elections, Mohan Babu, whose original name is Bhaktavatsalam Naidu, would be able to sustain and continue his political legacy through his daughter Lakshmi Prasanna.
She is all set now to take on mega star Chiranjeevi at Tirupati on TDP ticket in the next assembly elections whenever they are held.
