Political legacies don’t succeed: Naidu

chandrababuIndirectly serving a warning to Rajya Sabha member Nandamuri Hari Krishna and Jr. NTR who are reportedly aiming to take over the mantle of the party leadership, TDP Chief and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said today that the country doesn’t need political legacies.

“Political legacies would not work in India,” he said in a press conference in Vijayawada before leaving for Guntur.

Naidu’s remarks gain significance in the wake of reports that Hari Krishna has been working over time to ensure that the mantle of TDP leadership would pass on to Jr. NTR in course of time and the Nandamuri and Nara families are waging a cold war over this issue.

“Sonia did not become PM when Rajiv died nor did Jayalalitha become chief minister when MGR died. Same thing happened in Naveen Pontianak case also,” Naidu said giving examples. “Legacies do not work in politics and people must decide the leaders,” he said and warned TDP leaders that he would not keep quiet if damage is done to party by some leaders.
