TDP leaders get notices for contempt

ap-high-courtThe AP High Court on Tuesday issued notices to senior TDP leader Somireddy Chandramohan   Reddy, MLAs Balli Durga Prasad and K Ramakrishna and former MLA Mallela Linga Reddy (all from TDP) asking them to explain as to why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them for their alleged comments against a judge of the HC.

Two lawyers Arcot Chandrasekhar and Sarat Kumar filed two different petitions in the High Court alleging contempt of court against them for criticizing Justice L Narsimha Reddy after he delivered a judgment asking the government to make public the Chapter VIII of the Justice Sri Krishna Report on Telangana.

Scathing remarks in this regard were reported in the media and attributed to the said TDP leaders.  Criticism aimed at the judge and not his order was contemptuous and attracted the provisions of criminal contempt, the lawyer- petitioners said in their petitions.
