Veteran freedom fighter Mr Konda Lakshman Bapuji said today he would launch a Satyagraha at Jantar Mantar in Delhi from Nov 1 demanding the formation of Telangana state.
Speaking to media persons at his residence in Hyderabad, the freedom fighter said that he would launch fast unto death at the Raj Ghat if the government does not respond to his Satyagraha.
Bapuji, who hails from Telangana area, said that his Satyagraha would seek formation of Telangana state while simultaneously highlighting the need for the protection of democracy in the country.
“The stance of the Seema Andhra investors is breaking the backbone of democracy and the democratic opinions of the people of Telangana,” he said.
Bapuji admitted that there was poor response to his ‘single agenda-single flag’ programme in the past.
Strike called off because of resistance
Vijayawada congress MP Mr Lagadapati Rajagopal told journalists in Delhi that some constituents of the Telangana JAC had called off the strike as there was stiff resistance from the people of Telangana.
Rajagopal also expressed the hope that the congress high command would express its stand on the Telangana issue by this month end.
