Will Tamil Brahmins continue to call shots in Trust?

devoteesWhile the final moments of the spiritual Guru Sri Satya Sai Baba are being counted by his devotees, efforts are on to find out the persons who will head the Satya Sai Central Trust that controls his kingdom having properties worth more than Rs. 1,50, 000 Cr after his Niryana.

Mr Ratnakar, 39, who is the son of Janakiramaiah, the late younger brother of the Baba and Mr Satyajit, 33, who had post-graduated from the Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning and who has been Baba's personal caretaker till date, are the front runners to succeed Baba as the chairman of the Trust that controls various activities being carried out in his name.

The relatives of Baba however feel that the Tamil Brahmin domination is predominant in the Trust and they are of the opinion that it should be curtailed.

The central trust has K Chakravarthi and R V Srinivasan, both of whom are Tamil Brahmins, as its members. Now, again Satyajit, also a Tamil Brahmin, is being asked to look after the Trust affairs, said a close relative of the Baba.

In the presence of the minister, Geetha Reddy and LV Subramanyam, Principal Secretary of the sate finance department, the Trust members and the close relatives of the Baba held discussions on Thursday on the succession issue.

The government representatives have reportedly asked the Trust members and the relatives of Baba not to fight over the issue but settle things amicably in such a way that Baba?s name is not spoiled.

The final word has, however, not yet emerged on the succession issue and we will have to wait for a day or two to know of this.
