List of Congress leaders away from poll battle

Well they say Congress party is an ocean, many leaders rose to fame and equally went nowhere. This elections are going to be tough for the Congress party as over the last five years it has troubled the people a lot. Already Congress had witness the heat of public last December in which no state voted it into power.

In Andhra Pradesh, Congress is in worse condition than in any state. With division the entire political scenario changed in AP and many leaders have quit the Congress party itself. However, Congress was left with few loyal ones despite this, few leaders are not at all interested in contesting on behalf of Congress in view of bifurcation.

Firstly, former CM Kiran Kumar Reddy. His dad and he were touted to be treu Congress loyalists and never did crossed the line of the high command. Nonetheless, the division of Andhra Pradesh made Kiran to quit the chief minister post and even the party. Kiran and his family represented Congress in 12 general elections and imagine how painful it was for Congress as well as Kiran to lose each other.

Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, he along with his grandfather were in Congress for over seven decades. This Eluru member of Parliament is in a strange situation. Kavuri resigned to Congress, unable to join other parties and no trust of victory on the newly formed party. Overall Kavuri is dilemma whether to contest in elections or not.

As strong opponent for the bifurcation, Lagadapati Rajagopal was the first MP to resign to his post and Congress. Later as he promised stepped away from politics. Now Lagadapati is an adivsor in Jai Samaikyandhra Party floated by ex-CM Kiran.

Of all the Congressmen, Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy gave jolt to the Congress by stepping away from elections. He and his son Kasu Mahesh were given tickets, they even filed nominations. But getting to know the real response from the public, they pulled themselves out from the polls battle. Also ex-minister Gade Venkat Reddy also opted himself out the election battle in fear of defeat.

Sabitha-Reddy-Shankar-Rao

Firebrand Renuka Choudary was denied ticket for Khammam Lok Sabha. She was confident that she would get ticket however, Congress high command noticed her each and every move during the bifurcation process who indirectly supported the United AP movement. Tactically Congress gave Khammam to CPI Narayana as part of deal. Though she was upset, Renuka is actively campaigning for CPI party.

Sabitha Reddy, the former Home Minister was also denied ticket but her son was given Chevella Parliament seat. Congress as part of their ethics [one seat to one family] alloted Lok Sabha seat to Sabitha's elder son Karthik Reddy. However, rumors are like she might get MLC or Rajya Sabha after polls.

Last but not least, Shankar Rao. The most loyalist Congressmen, after granting Telangana, she built a statue for Sonia Gandhi and established temple in his farm house. In spite of showing his gratitude, Congress denied ticket to him but he tried his level best to get seat for his daughter but all his efforts went in vain.
