Shahrukh beats Salman, for cop role

Kamal Haasan recommends Shahrukh Khan to play the lead role in the remake of his Tamil film `Vettayadu Velayadu’ in Hindi. Shahrukh seems to be the best with less exposure in uniform.

The Tamil super hit Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu has its Hindi Story back, ready and the director Gautham Menon is all set to look for the star cast. But the grapevine was earlier contemplating that Salman would don the cop’s role. The director on the other hand feels that Salman had been thoroughly exposed in the role in earlier ventures. The director is quoted as, `I don't know where these reports of Salman Khan being an option for 'Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu' are coming from. It's Shah Rukh Khan, who is the first and only choice. Kamalji played the part in the Tamil original. So Shah Rukh seems the right candidate for the part.’ A source close to the unit suggests that, `Shah Rukh in khaki is a novelty. Salman has been there and done it many times. Shah Rukh is our man for the part.’

So the ball is in the King Khan’s court and he has to make the choice between two meaty roles of author backed characters. He has to choose between the remakes of two Tamil films - "Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu" and A.R. Murugadoss's "Ramanna".

Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu is a 2006 Tamil crime-thriller film written and directed by Gautham Menon. Starring Kamal Haasan, Jyothika, Kamalinee Mukherjee, Prakash Raj and Daniel Balaji in prominent roles, the film featured music composed by Harris Jayaraj. It was one of the first Indian films to make use of Super 35mm technology. The film was dubbed in Telugu as Raghavan and released on August 17, 2007.   (With inputs from the Internet-AarKay)
