Lindsay Lohan’s nude playboy issue rakes in divided sales talk

Lindsay Lohan’s ten page shoot of hot photos on this week’s Playboy release has evoked divided responses. Some say the book is selling like hot cakes but others say it is not as per the expectations.  Both the arguments have had solid references and facts supporting their claims. The frenzy lavish spreads on the magazine was supposed to be the result of a whooping signing amount, almost a $1million. But unfortunately the whole lot had sneaked on to the net much early and the magazine destined to January 2012, was hurriedly scheduled for this week.

Fox 411 claims that not many consumers are paying for the magazine experience. In fact, interest seems low in seeing Lohan’s intensely air-brushed impersonation of Marilyn Monroe in glossy print. Fox411 spent some time trolling the shelves of newsstands and gas stations from New York to Philadelphia only to be confronted with the same reality at each: Lohan’s glassy-eyed stare peaking above the backs of more family friendly fare, with no one staring back or making a purchase.

But the Playboy honcho Hugh Hefner sounds different and shows substantive evidence on the matter.  He used Twitter client Twitterrific on December 18th, 2011 to tweet out the message: “The Lindsay Lohan January-February Double Issue is breaking sales records.” This tweet was retweeted by well over 100+ people on Twitter and created a flurry of rumors of big sales numbers of the new Lohan Playboy Double issue. Mr. Hefner also went on to say, “The Lindsay Lohan Double Issue also includes 2 Centerfolds, the Year In Sex & the Playmate Review. Over 200 pages of entertainment.”

And even TMZ supports the claim of the magazine’s success. According to TMZ sources, newsstands in major cities like New York and Los Angeles have had to re-order the issue multiple times. We're told Playboy is even getting re-orders from cities that usually never order more issues. TMZ say Lindsay's appearance in the magazine has also had an effect online as well ... where the magazine has seen a huge increase in subscription sales to their online service, iPlayboy.com.

But as per the pundits, any publicity will aid the show run successful. So being in the news keeps one in the minds of the raving public and definitely that will be a big bargain for Playboy too.
