Vitamin pills are supposed to improve health making up the required vitamins in the body and balancing the deficiency in food intake if any. But the tablets distributed to Children in Odisha proved otherwise.
Vitamin tablets were distributed by the health officers of Chilika and Nupada in Puri district in Odisha, among 300 children out of whom 177 children fell sick. The children suffered from acute stomach pain, vomiting and motions.
The Chief Minister of Odisha Navin Patnaik shocked at the incident got furious about the negligence of the officers concerned and called for the explanation from the Collector Naba Kumar.
The Collector said that the children were sent to the Puri hospital and further distribution of the pills was stopped in other schools.
