Morsi charged of homicide

Public prosecutors have arraigned deposed President Mohammed Morsi with a slew of criminal charges including murder and complot with Palestinian extremist group Hamas in connection with the 2011 uprising. The ousted leader will be formally indicted soon.

The Egyptian prosecutors have accused Morsi for ploying with the militant group and prosecuting the prison break in northwest of Cairo, where in 30 members of his Brotherhood including Morsi were released and 14 prison guards killed in the process.

The judgment stoked emotions of Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood, who renounced all accusations. Labeling the  ruling as “politically motivated”, a brotherhood spokesman asserted that the judgment to prosecute Morsi revealed  "the complete bankruptcy of the leaders of the bloody coup."

On the other hand, scores of supporters and detractors gathered on the streets of Shubra, one of the largest districts in Cairo, resulting in clashes, more violence and further terror.

Mostafa Sobhy, resident of Shubra and a member in Al-Dostour Party, founded by Nobel Peace laureate Mohammad ElBaradei, said, "For some reason, pro-Morsi protesters keep coming back to Shubra. Today they march and tried to get into the Al-Khazander mosque."

With the formal indictment awaited on this, more upheaval is expected in Egypt in the coming days.
