Delhi Gangrape case: Delhi Constable cremated with state honors

Subash Tomar, the Delhi Police Constable who was found injured fatally on Sunday after the violent protests at the India gate was cremated in Delhi on Tuesday. He received full state honors at his cremation site, Nigambodh Ghat, while the Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dixit, State Minister for home RPN Singh, Union Minister Ajit Singh and Union Home Secretary RK Singh paid their respects.

 

Police department brass like the Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar and other senior officials were also spotted at the ceremony.

 

Fighting his injuries and death, Tomar succumbed to the fatal blows and was declared dead on Monday morning at 6:40am at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

 

To help the family, all the police personnel would donate one day's salary to them after the tragic death of the constable.


"Delhi Police family and our Commissioner stand with his family and all compensation and other things admissible will be granted to him," Delhi Police PRO Rajan Bhagat said.

 

He added that the 45 year old constable was posted at Karawal Nagar PS and deployed on law and order duties at the New Delhi district on Sunday during which he received the fatal blows and succumbed to them. He also said that the Delhi Police is with his family in the issues and that they were in deep sorrow after the incident.


Tomar is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
