Breaking News: UPA wins the FDI in retail vote

Finally after much speculation and intense debate the UPA government has finally won the vote on Foreign Direct Investment in multi-brand retail. There were 218 votes in favour of the motion against FDI in retail and 253 votes were in favour of the government.  The win has been a real hard fought one as both UPA and BJP led opposition left no stone unturned to get the vote on their favor. UPA won this battle because they had the numerical superiority in both the houses of parliament.

The win also reinforced Prime minister Manmohan Singh's confident statement when said " "Why would we have a debate if we were not confident?" Earlier the Congress party appealed to all parties to form a united secular front and vote for the government on FDI in retail in the parliament. The eventful Wednesday witnessed waves after waves of heated arguments made by both sides.
