2G Auction: Exchequer gains Rs 9407cr

After the 2G spectrum auction concluded on Wednesday, the government treasury gained a massive Rs 9407 crores from the auction on day 2.

After the Supreme Court has cancelled the licences of 122 telecom operators, the auction became inevitable. The final sum of Rs 9280 cr was made was bid by the operators by the end of five rounds of auction on Tuesday.

After the modest response in the auctions, the stocks of the telecom operators had risen significantly yesterday.

Telecom Secretary R Chandrashekhar told the media on Monday that only 98 out of 176 blocks that were put on auction were targeted by the bidders.
