Shinde calls allegations against Gadkari substantial

Sushilkumar Shinde, the Home Minister mentioned that the allegations leveled against the BJP President Nitin Gadkari might be substantial insinuating that the dubious finding may perhaps be true.

"Whatever things are coming up. You people are showing it on TV. It seems there is some substance in it (allegations)," Shinde said talking to the reporters on Friday. However, he has not elaborated on the issue further.

Gadkari has been under the lens since quite some time after Purti Power and Sugar Limited, PPSL, headed by him has received several major investments and loans from Ideal Road Builders which in turn received contracts sanctioned by the BJP president when he was the PWD minister in Maharashtra during 1995 to 1999.

Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Income Tax department have been looking into the irregularities. There is also a possibility that the Enforcement Directorate may intervene in the matters by launching a probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

It it worthy of a mention that the details of the directors, companies that invested in Purti etc have all be fake which further adds to the allegations of forgery.
