Yash Chopra's death triggers fear in Delhi

After the tragic news of the renowned filmmaker, Yash Chopra's death caused by dengue, several common men have started fearing the deadly vector-borne disease. Doctors in the city have mentioned that they have received countless calls seeking medical advice or even admission to hospital on the grounds of a suspected or a confirmed infection of dengue.

A doctor from the Apollo Hospitals in the city mentioned that a few of her patients insisted on getting admitted to hospital though they had a platelet count which was almost normal. The doctor also mentioned that the sudden demise of the filmmaker has shocked him after it was reported to be due to dengue. He said that the actor should have had another comorbid condition along with dengue that had aggravated the situation and caused the multi-organ failure which led to death.

It is to be noted that the number of dengue cases in the city have been steadily rising over the past month. On Monday alone there were over 33 newer cases of the infection reported. The total number of the victims of the deadly disease now stands at 682 which also included one deputy director of AIIMS itself.  Two of the victims, both children- Tabassum (9) from Sangam Vihar and Chanchal (1)- reportedly died of dengue in the city.
