The speculations of a cabinet reshuffle were brought back to life after the United Progressive Alliance government leaders, President of Congress Sonia Gandhi and the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh both met the President of India Pranab Mukherjee individually. Rahul Gandhi the general secretary of congress is expected to follow suit after it is known that he had an appointment scheduled on Wednesday.

A few sources quoted that the cabinet reshuffle could happen by the end of the week on on Friday or Saturday. They also added that Congress is assessing the political situation in the country.

What could have been the subject of the hour long meeting between the Prime Minister and the President? Rashtrapathi Bhavan has not revealed any official word regarding the meetings.  This weekend could witness a reshuffle in the Cabinet whilst the ministries left vacant by the resignation of Trinamool Congress and DMK representatives are also expected to be filled.
